History
The Department of Anatomical Pathology was founded in 1954, under the leadership of dr. Dervish Dt. Besar who had experience as an assistant in the field of Pathology at NIAS, Surabaya around 1930. Lectures at that time were only given once a week, because he lived in Tanjung Balai, and continued until 1955 when he finally moved to Medan as Director of RSU Medan.
Vision and Mission
Vision To become an excellent Anatomical Pathology study program in the fields of tropical medicine (Tropical Medicine) and malignant diseases (Oncology) in Indonesia in 2021.
Mision Organizing a specialist education of Anatomical Pathology based on molecular biology and Histopathology, Cytology and Autopsy technology, especially in tropical diseases and oncology.

Study Program Objectives,To produce graduates who are professional, scientific and ethical Pathologists who are experts in Anatomic Pathology and are responsible in their fields.,To produce graduates who are specialists in Anatomic Pathology who are capable of diagnosing Anatomic Pathology based on Histopathology, Cytology and Autopsy technology as a community service role,e.
